Lexophilia (or lexophobia)
Today on Public Address | Cracker Damian ws talking about words that either rub you up the wrong way, or tickle you the right way. He solicited input from his audience, I replied thusly:
Talk about your synchronicity. Just last night I was snickering over the word schnauzer. For no particular reason saying 'schnauzer' makes me smile. My wife finds the word completely devoid of interest, but it keeps me amused for minutes on end.
Schnauzer, schnauzer schnauzer, schnauzer.
And I don't even particularly like small yappy dogs.
I think it was David Letterman who did a top ten list of words that sound dirty but aren't. I'm pretty sure several of the words he used had the same effect on him. The only one I remember offhand is 'mukluk'.
